HDS Live 7 is a big upgrade over my previous 2d sonar only capabilities. The side scan and down imaging will improve my ability to locate and identify fish holding structure and the navigation features will insure my ability to relocate and fish those locations on other trips.
I use the HDS live unit to control my Lowrance Outboard auto pilot. I have it setting next to an Elite 9Ti2 that I purchased before I decided to get the auto pilot. The Ti2 does not work with the outboard auto pilot. The HDS live 7 is a perfect unit for me but I don’t use it for sonar at this time. Eventually I will purchase a HDS live 9 to replace the Ti2.
I have not had this long. Very easy to install and operate. I have been on the water fishing only 2 times so far but the graphics are excellent and the fish are so defined and easy to spot & find. A very good satisfying unit. Love it!
After 3 days playing with the different brands in stores for 10 hours, I did find the Lowrance easiest to use. It had a better installed C-map relative to the place in Northern WI where I fish most. The touch screen also keeps the unit compact. The great 17 yr history I had with my LMS-160 does give me confidence in spending my money on this new Lowrance. One important aspect I was looking for was the ability to choose sounder frequencies and turn off the 200 kHz so it did not interfere with my in-dash flasher also at 200 kHz. The flasher is great to use to immediately see depth when running full out in colder temps with eyes watering, or in the dark or rains. Lowrance was the model that gave me this option to turn a frequency Off. Also the "Application Screen" was the easiest unit to find different modes of operation w/o having to page through all the screens. Additionally, I purchased a Lowrance 120v/12v power transformer so I can practice using my unit at my home computer/laptop, while viewing the many great tutorials online. One minor glitch to using the unit out of the boat is I must hold a bare ground wire off the unit's input wire pigtail, for the touch screen to function. But I have been able to enhance the maps of my favorite fishing grounds at home this winter, by adding way-points, plotting routes, marking hotspots and hazards. Several of my buddies have now also purchased these Lowrance units, so we call each other frequently to coach ourselves on new ways we have discovered to use them. Thanks Lowrance! I would probably rate this Excellent for ease of use, if I were a more Tech savvy guy.
We recently replaced ours with this one. We have only been out on the water with a few times and are still learning but so far it has been great. Was a little disappointed because the transducer that came with it was not the correct one. We ended up having to buy a different one. Other than that, so far there has been no issues.
I bought this finder for the console of my Bass Tracker Heritage when I went on a trip to Toledo Bend Reservoir. The HDS LIVE was a critical piece of equipment both for navigating the lake and finding some hogs down deep.
Overall the unit is very easy to use and very intuitive. The DownScan imaging is very clear, clear enough to see the axles on a submerged vehicle I found shortly after purchasing.
I have had this unit since February 2019 and wow is it a great change from the old units that were on my boat. side scan and down imaging are fantastic tools. The fish reveal setting is great for the weekend angler like myself.
I bought the unit earlier this year. Still growing into some of the chart gps functions. Had a temporary trail issue when it stopped recording but a call to tech support had me do a reset that corrected it. Wonderful product.
I had been running this graph for a few months now and it has performed exceptionally well. The side scan is the clearest I have ever seen on a unit and the fish reveal software is second to none. The only downfall with this graph is the down scan seems to be lacking. Those images are not as clear. Overall and amazing product.
