I had read several reviews and found a few that complained about durability. I don't have that complaint after this weekend. It took a big hit from an underwater rock that couldn't be seen because of muddy water. The impact was hard enough to rotate the transducer so I'd say extremely durable!
Bought this to replace one I cracked during tournament in June. I hope it will withstand another pounding thru the end of tournament season (Nov. I have to recommend it as it is the only one on the market that I know of. I do wish it could be manufactured with a more sturdy material as I'm betting I will be replacing it again in the future.
Have used it for a while seams to work great. The only thing would make the ability to just order the protector and drop the price. Most installers already have clamps and the 2 zip ties are to small.
This is the second one I have had to purchase. Needs to be strengthened around the sides along the strap holes. I fish in the Arkansas River a lot, where the shallows and rip rap jetties are both rough on equipment. Breaks at the strap holes.
I ended up using the stainless steel bracket with hose clamp for my bow mount trolling motor. The plastic mount did not full-fill my needs. I fish shallow water quite often with rocks and stumps. I don't need a damaged plastic bracket ruining my fishing. The stainless bracket worked fine after forming it to my Minn-kota trolling motor. I used it this week with no problems. I can't rate your product other than say it is made very light.
I talked to Lowrance tech support and explained that I was moving my HDS7 from the console to the trolling motor. I needed a trolling motor mount for the old style HDI Skimmer transducer. The technician assured me that this was the exact mount needed. It arrived a few days later and as I suspected was not a match for my transducer. They will be getting this one back. I ended up designing and fabricating my own from aluminum. Much stronger than the thin plastic cup Lowrance sent me.
